For Birthmothers
Life is a journey and there are times we find
ourselves at a crossroads. You may be at
crossroads now- trying to decide what is the
best for you and your child. I respect and
celebrate the fact that you are interested in
understanding your options. No matter what your
circumstances may be, you are likely feeling
many emotions right now and I would like to come
alongside you in this process to support you in
what may be a difficult time. I want to assure
you that you are not alone on this journey.
You do have options.
You do have the power to make positive choices
for yourself and your child. You DO have the
strength and courage it takes. And you DO NOT
have to do this alone. I appreciate that you are
considering adoption and would like to be a part
in helping you make the right choice for YOU and
your child, whatever that may be. I am here to
support you, to listen, to assist you in the
adoption process if you choose and to be an
advocate for you and your child. I am
committed to providing you and any other people
involved with compassionate, non-judgmental
support and the information you need to make the
best decision possible.
I can only imagine what
is going through your head as your mind swirls
through the choices you will have to make in the
upcoming months. I want you to know that
you do not have to go through it alone. If
you choose, I can be there to help you to look
at your alternatives. If adoption is the choice
you make, I will be the neutral and reliable
support throughout the entire journey. I
will provide you with emotional support: help
you to find counseling, if you want, and
adequate health care. I will guide you
through the legal policies in Illinois and can
(if you choose) be there for the birth of your
baby, and be an advocate for you, working to
help labor and delivery proceed as you would
like.
When the time comes to
choose a family for your baby, you will go
through portfolios that prospective adoptive
parents have put together for you to get to know
them. These families have been completely
screened by Journeys of the Heart – everything
from criminal and medical records to their
actual home. You can look through all of
this information and pictures of their lives.
We will set up a meeting with the couple if
that’s what you want.
By deciding to work with
me there is no pressure on you at all. You
cannot sign legal adoption documents until after
your baby is born.
Please come to me to
help you with the tough decisions that lie
ahead. Adoption may be the right choice
for you. It is perhaps the hardest, but
most unselfish and loving act that an expecting
parent in your situation can make. To
completely love your child is to do what is best
for them. Let’s make that a possibility.
You can call me 24 hours
a day, 7 days a week. I can be reached by
calling 800-876-0575. As soon as you
call, we will meet and discuss what you think is
best for you and your baby.
