Dear
Birthparents,
Our names are Matt and Amal and we would like to
thank you for taking the time to learn a little
bit about our family. We recognize how
overwhelming it may be to go through the process
of choosing the right family for your child. We
hope that as you learn more about us you will
feel comfortable that we will provide your child
with a loving and nurturing home. We are excited
about the opportunity to become adoptive parents
and to learn more about you and we hope that our
dreams for our children will match what you want
for your baby.
We met at work and
were friends for several years before we started
dating. We got married in 2000 and had a
wonderful Hawaiian honeymoon which included a
sunrise bike ride down Mount Haleakala. We spent
several years traveling and enjoying time with
each other. One of our favorite trips was to
California where we enjoyed time in Napa Valley,
San Francisco and took a scenic drive down the
coast of California to Monterey.
Amal grew up in
Lebanon and moved to the United States when she
was 17. Amal has four brothers and two sisters
and they are very close. Her family now lives in
Canada and they get together at least twice a
year. Matt grew up in the Chicago area and has a
younger brother and an older sister. He is very
close to both of them and we see them often.
Matt’s mom passed away when he was 13. His dad
has since remarried and they live about 30
minutes from our house so we have the
opportunity to get together often. Between
Amal’s family and Matt’s family, we have 16
nephews and nieces with ages ranging between 2
and 23.
We live in a beautiful four bedroom home in one
of the suburbs of Chicago. There is plenty of
space inside the house for a child to have fun
including a play room and a full size basement.
We have a good size yard and patio and enjoy
spending as much time as possible outside. Our
community has good schools and parks, great
walking and biking trails and numerous park
district activities. Our neighborhood is full of
kids and we have built great friendships with
our neighbors.
Our long-term plans have always included
starting a family. We took a few years to
develop a stable financially secure environment
before we decided to welcome children into our
home and hearts. In 2004, we were blessed with
the arrival of our son Ryan and were looking
forward to having another child. Infertility
issues changed our plans; however our love and
commitment to having another child remained the
same. We believe adoption is the path for our
family and look forward to growing our family
through adoption.
At the time that Ryan was born, Amal had a
successful career as a Finance Manager but we
made the decision that she would stay home with
Ryan. Staying at home with our son has been a
rewarding experience as he has grown into a
loving and caring child. Ryan is happy and full
of life and he is looking forward to having a
brother or a sister to share toys, laughs and
adventures with. He will make an excellent big
brother. Amal is very involved in Ryan’s school
and often volunteers to help with hot lunch
days, field trips, fundraising activities and
class projects. Amal works part time at home
while Ryan is at school, but will no longer work
once we adopt. Amal loves to cook and create new
meals during her free time and she also loves to
host family and friends in our home.
Matt’s job is in the Finance field and he has
been working for the same company for over 15
years. Matt always finds time to spend with the
family, whether it’s coaching Ryan’s baseball
team, going on museum outings or taking family
vacations. Matt is also very close to a circle
of friends from his childhood days and gets
together with them as often as possible. In his
spare time Matt also enjoys golfing, reading and
biking.
No matter how hectic day to day life can get, we
always try to eat dinner as a family and talk
about each of our days. We feel that this is a
great way to stay connected as a family. We also
set aside one night a week for either a family
movie night or game night.
Thank you for taking the time to read our
letter. We hope that you would consider us as
adoptive parents for your baby. We promise that
your child would be loved and given every
opportunity for a wonderful life. We would love
for you and your family to be a part of your
child’s life through visits, pictures and
letters. We will also respect the level of
openness that you are comfortable with. Your
child will forever know the love that you have
for him or her and you will always have a
special place in our family. Whatever you
decide, we wish you the best of luck and hope
you find peace in your heart.
Warmest Wishes,
Matt & Amal
