Hello!
We are Shawn and
Veronica and are honored to be sharing our story
with you. Hopefully we can provide you with a
snapshot of our life and what we can offer to
your child. We understand this is a very
difficult decision and we truly respect your
choice in determining what is best for your
child. We are both very excited to share our
lives and love with a new baby. While we will
provide as much detail as possible in a letter,
we are excited to have the opportunity to meet
you and answer all of your questions in person.
Our home: We live in a
beautiful town in Central Oregon. There are
countless activities out of our back door and a
beautiful landscape to explore. Our town is
friendly, close knit and boasts great schools
and a low crime rate. We like living here
because of the pace of life, clean air, and
access to the outdoors. Our town is big enough
to access all the things big cities have, but
has a flavor of country life too. There are
endless camping, fishing, and hiking
opportunities nearby. People enjoy a healthy
lifestyle here and so do we. We have a 3-bedroom
home with a ˝ acre yard so there is lots of room
to run and play. There are great parks in town
and there is a play area for children nearby.
About us: We met through mutual
friends 8-years ago and have been married for
5-years. We have a solid marriage full of love,
laughter, and respect. We met in Portland and
lived in Louisiana for a couple of years before
returning to Oregon. Shawn was drawn to Veronica
because of her kindness and enjoyment of life.
Veronica immediately liked Shawn because he’s
funny, caring, and personable.
Shawn loves outdoor activities and looks forward
to sharing these experiences with a child. Shawn
enjoys skiing, running, biking, hiking and
camping. Living is Central Oregon is a long way
from Shawn’s urban upbringing in Louisiana.
Shawn has a strong connection to his cultural
roots and loves the music, food, and traditions
of New Orleans. Shawn has the opportunity to
share his culture as a volunteer DJ for a local
community radio station where he gets to play
the music he grew up with.
Veronica also loves the outdoors and usually
prefers to be enjoying the weather. She was
raised on a farm in Wisconsin. Veronica likes
hiking, biking, reading, yoga, and camping.
Veronica loves to cook and bake and enjoys
trying out recipes. In spring and summer,
Veronica loves working in her garden where she
can use her artistic expression. She likes
creating things and making the home a beautiful
and welcoming place.
About our work: Shawn works in
the field of Food Science and is a quality
assurance manager for a beverage company. Shawn
loves his work because he can be inquisitive and
solve problems. Veronica works in the field of
social work and child advocacy where she is a
program manager. Veronica is drawn to helping
people make positive changes in their lives.
When we have a child, Veronica plans to work
part-time so she can stay home with the child.
She is very excited about being a mother and
spending valuable time with the child.
About our Family: We are
excited to share our lives with your child. We
have wonderful diverse family and friends who
will care deeply about your child and they are
thrilled that we are adopting. Although some of
our extended family lives outside of Oregon, we
get many visitors to our home and make trips
regularly to visit family. There are two sets of
devoted doting grandparents who are excited
beyond words to meet your child. We also have
many close friends nearby and Shawn’s brother
and family live the Portland area. Shawn’s other
sister lives in Louisiana. Veronica’s parents
live in Wisconsin along with her sister and her
brother lives in Alaska. We also have an awesome
little dog named Tasso, our Schnoodle
(Schnauzer/Poodle). He is great with kids and
loves hanging around people and makes for great
company.
About Adoption: We understand
the level of trust that is involved with
adoption and we would like to assure you that we
have lots of love to give to a child. We care
deeply about making sure your child is raised in
home that is supportive, encouraging, and
loving. We value education and will make sure
your child has the opportunities to try and
explore new things. Shawn is terrific with kids,
they are drawn to him, probably because he knows
how to get them to laugh and play. Veronica is a
born nurturer; she loves learning about child
development and looks forward to reading books
and doing art projects with the child.
We are very comfortable with an open adoption
and we look forward to your child having the
opportunities and comfort of really knowing
their birth parent(s). We will regularly keep
you updated with photos and milestones and we
would like to include you at important events
such as birthdays or holidays. You will always
be honored in our family and we are truly
committed to continuing this connection into the
future. We will ensure that your child knows of
the love you have for them and how they came to
be part of our family.
