lifestyle.
We enjoy being in

From
Marc and Sue's letter..."We live in a western
suburb of Chicago.
We are in a great
location in relation to family and friends.
Everyone is a car
ride away.
We live in a safe
neighborhood with kind people.
Many of our neighbors
have younger children and you can find them
playing outside or riding their bikes on the
sidewalks and in the cul-de-sac most days.
We are also just a
short car or train ride away from the city.
We enjoy many
weekends exploring all it has to offer! Our
house is a warm and welcoming place.
We have a small
backyard, yet it has enough room to run around
and play in. Our finished basement has a great
area for a future play room."

From Greg and Martina's Letter..."We
want you to know that we will raise our children
with devotion, love and attention. It is our
goal to be involved in their lives in a
meaningful way, by helping him or her to develop
confidence, individuality and compassion. Most
of all we want to be there for them to provide a
secure and safe environment in which they can
just be themselves and grow into the beautiful
person they were meant to be. We truly encourage
your involvement in an open adoption and please
know that you will always be honored in our
home. We will embrace you in our lives and your
child will always know they are loved by you."

From Erik and
Andrea's letter..."No
matter how far away someone is, they are always
close in your heart.
Open adopting falls into this category
for us.
With all the ways there are
communicating these days, we hope to be able to
stay connected with letters, pictures, etc.
While pictures and letters are good,
nothing can compare to sharing milestones with
you in person.
We embrace the opportunity to visit with
you in person throughout the child’s life.
As parents to any child, we look forward
to keeping the birthparent(s) and their family
involved.
We realize and are grateful that none of
our hopes for a family would be fulfilled if it
weren’t for you."

From Stacy and
Nate's Letter..."We are incredibly excited to
expand our family through adoption. Every moment
together as a family will be amazing. We will
provide our children with the support they need
to explore all their interests. Education is
very important to us. Our children will attend
good schools and have the opportunity to go to
the college. Most importantly we will love and
nurture them so that they grow into confident,
loving people. Should you choose us as adoptive
parents we will honor your special place in our
family and respect the level of openness that
you are comfortable with. The child will always
know their birth story and the caring,
courageous people you are."

From Paul and Karen's letter..."We
would want to raise our children the same way we
ourselves were raised, with the same core values
and beliefs: The value of family, the importance
of being kind, courteous, respectful, and always
have a positive outlook towards life. We would
coach your child based on love and
understanding, with plenty of patience, a bunch
of laughs, and a good dose of humor. Comfort
them on difficult days, give smiles when there
is sadness, big hugs when spirits are low. We
would always do our best to be their role
models."

From
Matt and Stephanie's letter..."An open adoption
to us means at least one visit per year and
correspondence by way of e-mail, letters,
facebook, or through Journeys of the Heart Staff
to exchange letters and pictures. We believe
that you, as birthparents, provide such a
valuable part of our adoption story and we are
so very grateful for the gift you have entrusted
us with. Please know your child will be
treasured and showered with unconditional
love. She/He will always know about your
sacrifice and the journey and love it took to
become part of our family. If you choose not to
have an open adoption please know that you will
always be thought of with unconditional love,
utmost respect, and heartfelt appreciation."

is everything to us. We spend lots of time
together. We even vacation together!
Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and birthdays
are spent filled with delicious food, fun,
laughter and sharing. Grandpa, Grandma, aunts,
uncles and cousins are waiting to welcome your
child into our family. We cannot wait to carve a
Halloween pumpkin, fill his or her Christmas
stocking and color Easter eggs with your child.
Our families look forward to embracing your
child and welcoming them as our newest member."

From Mark and Meg's letter..."There
is so much we would like to tell you about
ourselves to help you in your decision, but most
of all we want you to know that we have more
than enough love for your baby. Our home is a
safe, nurturing, and fun place where all the
kids like to play. We strive to have our house
be the one where the kids want to hang out, and
feel comfortable from the young years through
the teenage years. As we write this, we can
hear Max and his friends from school. We take
turns playing with them, doing crafts, and
hanging out in the yard and driveway with them.
Throughout the day, we have heard the basketball
bouncing, baseball bat hitting the ball,
yelling, and laughing, with the occasional
request for snacks. It is the best music to both
of us."

surrounded by love and laughter and will be
encouraged to live out his or her dreams."

From Ray and Jill's Letter..."We are
excited about adoption because we want a family.
We want to love a child and guide
him/her to adulthood.
We both went on fun family trips as kids
and have many great memories.
As a child, Jill always enjoyed reading
and learning and playing with her friends and
older brother Gregory, who was always
introducing Jill to new games and puzzles.
Ray was more of a spirited adventure
seeker, always on his bike and running around
full of energy, dragging brother Robert and
sister Linda into his adventurous activities.
We can't wait to share these stories and
be part of a child's development as they pursue
their own unique interests and talents."

From Jesse and
Andrea's Letter..."Family is of great importance
to us. We are very lucky that both of our
parents get along so well. Soon after we were
married, all of our parents moved to Portland to
be with us. None of them wanted to be a “see ya
once a year” grandparent. There is barely a
house big enough to fit our whole gathering for
holidays and birthdays, as our two families have
truly become one."

share our home today with our two dogs and cats.
Our dogs are
included in most of our activities.
After work
each day we love to take the dogs for a hike,

They love to

We do our best

They bring a
lot of laughter, happiness and love to our home.

From Pamela and
Gerald's Letter..."As
parents, we plan to place a high value on
education, whether through textbooks or hands-on
exploration. We hope to introduce a child to
our passions for theater, football & travel. We
intend to spend summer days at the park & winter
nights curled up with a Disney movie or playing
Candyland. As parents, we hope to raise a child
with imagination, creativity & guidance while
letting them fly on their own wings to
experience all life has to offer.

From Phil and Mikie's Letter..."We also
like to do a lot of traveling as a family. Our
favorite spot is the Cayman Islands. When we
visit the Caymans, our favorite excursion is to
swim with the stingray at Stingray City. We
also love to ride horses on the beach, jump
waves and watch the sunset. This year Santa
Claus rang the bell at 4 a.m. and left airline
tickets to Mexico for Christmas! What a great
experience to have a Feliz Navidad on the beach!"

From Steve and Jenni's
Letter..."Our extended family is most important
to us. They are our strength, support and
guidance. We enjoy seeing Steve’s family during
the holidays. We are very close to Jenni’s
brother and his large extended family and
cherish the time we spend with them during
holidays, vacations and free time. Our summer
vacations are spent at their lake house with all
the kids. We all enjoy swimming, riding wave
runners, taking sunset cruises on the pontoon
boat and talking by the campfire. Our nieces
and nephews are the highlights of those
gatherings and they cannot wait to welcome a new
child into their lives."

From Chris and Patti's Letter..."We look
forward to offering a child the opportunity to
grow up in a house full of love and letting them
experience life while providing guidance along
the way. As soon as our child is old enough to
understand, we will tell them about their
adoption as did Chris’ parents with him and his
sister. We feel it is important for a child to
know how much their birthmother has given them.
It takes a tremendous amount of courage and
strength to allow another family to raise your
child and we will always honor and respect you
for that."

From Alasdair and Rudi's letter..."We
enjoy being parents, and share the
responsibilities of parenting.
We feel that parenthood is a sort of
loving adventure, one in which we are all
constantly learning about ourselves and each
other.
We hope to raise our children to be
honest, respectful, open-minded, self-confident,
responsible, and sensitive to the needs of
others.
We feel it is important to provide our
children with educational and creative
opportunities, while being as supportive as we
can of their choices.
As a biracial couple ourselves, we
believe that children benefit from being raised
in an ethnically and culturally diverse
environment."
