David and his wife,
Susan, started Journeys of the Heart in 1993. In
1996, David started working full-time for the
agency as its attorney and as director of
international programs. David travels
internationally for Journeys, developing and
maintaining the agency's five international
programs, escorting families overseas, and
administering the expenditure of funds donated
to Journeys' relief programs through the Love
the Children Fund. David grew up in New York
state. He earned a bachelors degree in political
science and sociology from Swarthmore College, a
law degree from the University of Pennsylvania,
and a teaching certificate from Linfield College
in Oregon. Before starting the agency, David
worked in a clinic providing free legal services
to impoverished families, and as an
administrative law judge for the state of Oregon
David says: "I always
wanted to help people, to serve justice and the
less fortunate. Working in adoption - to get
children out of harms way - is a challenging,
constructive, and personally meaningful way of
doing so."
