Chicago Illinois Playgroup! |
Downtown/Lincoln Park/Lakeview Playgroup
getting started!
If you are a JOH family living in the city and looking
for a way to connect with other JOH families for playtime
and group opportunities, or to plan group cultural awareness
activities for children whose lives began in other
countries, read on!
Christie Young has started a playgroup
that meets at Church of Our Saviour, 530 W. Fullerton
(just west of Clark) The Church is
conveniently located on the 22 Clark and 36 Broadway
stops, and walking distance from the 151
Sheridan and 156 LaSalle and the
Brown Line Fullerton stops. They are a great sponsor of an
open, non-religious, free playgroup in their newly
renovated nursery/playroom. The Playgroup is new and has
abundant openings that we'd love to dedicate to JOH
families in the city. The space is open to us
on Mondays, Tuesdays and/or Thursdays from 3-5pm. The
room is large, carpeted, and stocked with books and
toys. The church location is secure, warm (in winter)
and cool (in summer). Ample parking available just
outside the entry. This playgroup has saved many a mom
from insanity during the "NOTHING TO DO IN THE
AFTERNOON" hours. Little sibs who can nap in
strollers/car seats are welcome to come too and snooze
in a quiet part of the nursery.
Email Christine Young and help start some fun JOH family
events! Contact her at
crabbiappl@aol.com for more information.
