Hello!

My name is Kimberly Sprecher and I am thrilled to be the Director of Domestic Programs at Journeys of the Heart. I could not ask for a more rewarding position than being able to help loving families grow together. I grew up in Hillsboro, Oregon and realized my passion for human services throughout high school.  I graduated from Oregon State University with a B.S. in Human Development and Family Sciences and a minor is Psychology.

Before working with Journeys of the Heart, I was a Child Welfare Intern for the Oregon Department of Human Services in Albany, Oregon where I had the opportunity to work within the State adoption and foster care system. My internship strengthened my dedication to adoption and increased my desire to work with children and families throughout the country. Additionally, I worked with the Oregon Family Support Network to create a Life Skills program for teens within the Benton County community.

Hi, I am Kimberly Sprecher, Director of Domestic Services for Journeys. Let me tell you how we can help you.

If you choose adoption, Journeys of the Heart Adoption Services can:

  • Help you look at the type of adoption you want for your baby. This ranges from very open, where you may have visits with the child, to closed, where there is no contact. There are many possibilities in between. YOU DECIDE what fits your situation.
  • Give you a selection of families to choose from so you can make the right choice for you and your baby. Have you wondered, before, if there is an adoptive family for your baby?  The families have all exceeded our standards in terms of having the financial, emotional and physical ability to do an excellent job of raising your child. If you have chosen an open adoption, you'll probably want to start developing a relationship with the adopting parents.
  • If you have financial needs, we'll give you financial assistance for living and medical expenses relating to your pregnancy. We don't want you to worry- About paying for things you need during this time.
  • Assign you a kind and understanding staff member who will become like a good friend. She is the person who makes sure you'll have what you need.
  • Help you to anticipate and deal with the emotions you may feel before and after the birth of your child.
  • Provide counseling -- you decide if you want or need it. We will provide it prior to the birth and after for as long as you want it.

Why Choose Adoption?

  • You will be giving your baby a gift - the gift of Life which is the greatest gift one can give. You are the only person who can do this.
  • If you wish, you will be able to stay in touch with your child and the adoptive parents which will reassure you that your child is happy and will cared for. If you choose to have contact with your child, the visits with the child and the adopting parents will allow for a continuous relationship where your child is assured of your love.
  • You will be giving your child great opportunities (such as financial stability, a two-parent family, a college education) that you may be unable to provide.
  • You will be giving yourself the opportunity to realize your full self potential. You will be able to continue on with your life and work on your dreams.
  • You help fulfill the dreams of a couple that is unable to conceive a child. You will give them the gift of their lifetime, the chance to adopt a baby.

I am here for you, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Call me at 1-800-876-0575 or email me, Kimberly@journeysoftheheart.net
